Walking back from a photo shoot for Google in San Francisco’s Financial District, I was struck by stark graphics, the empty space inside the lobby of an office building, and the receptionist who seemed lost in her thoughts. I’ve always been interested in capturing scenes where people are trying to manage their lives while in the midst of chaos and a difficult environment.
